Solly Krieger
was World Middleweight Champion in 1938 and 1939.
A Golden Gloves amateur champion who turned professional
in 1928, Krieger did not get a shot at the title until the
latter part of his tenth year in the ring. On November 1,
1938, in his ninety-first professional bout, Krieger won
the World Middleweight crown by decisioning titleholder Al
Hostak. Seven months and eight fights later, Hostak
regained the championship. Krieger retired in 1941.
