Bernstein also won the International Hot Rod Association Winston Funny Car championship, and is a six-time Auto Racing Writers & Broadcasters Association All-American. He is the only race team owner to have collected wins in each of America's three major motorsports series: NHRA, NASCAR and IndyCar. Bernstein earned the title "King of Speed" when he was clocked at 301.70 mph in March 1992, becoming the first NHRA driver to break the 300 mph barrier.
