In 1906, Domeny-Deutsch, a Hungarian lawyer and prominent Zionist
politician founded the Hungarian Fencing and Athletic Club (VAC) in Budapest.
It was the first exclusively Jewish sports club in Europe. Domeny-
Deutsch also established the Jewish National Fund and The Jewish News,
the
first Zionist newspaper. Domeny-Deutsch died in World War I. |
